Lauren Holmes is an interior designer with a passion for designing engaging, integrated spaces for her clients. After calling Brisbane home for almost 10 years, Lauren has returned to Armidale with her young family, as the founder of the interior design creative studio – August Wattle.
Lauren studied in Brisbane at Queensland University of Technology, graduating with a Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) (Honours). During her studies, Lauren learned under one of Brisbane’s most talented interior designers – James Robertson, before cementing her passion for interior design while working for the hospitality focused, multi-award winning architectural firm – KP Architects.
Lauren brings her experience working as an interior designer on an array of projects including café and bar fitouts and refurbishments, residential commissions and retail fitouts to the Armidale region with the intention of collaborating with likeminded clients and colleagues. Lauren loves working with texture, colour and light and is excited by the always growing range of products and materials that can be sourced to create truly beautiful and unique projects for her clients. She is passionate about the future of design in the region and the transition we are seeing particularly in regard to the many renovations, creative start-ups and local businesses emerging in our community.
Lauren hopes to share her skills and experience creating and refining spaces to offer intimacy and engagement, by working with her clients to develop strong, focused and consistent underlying design concepts. She believes interior design should aim to reflect our personality, the values we hold and the quality of product or service we aim to deliver. By creating an experience, layering and refining, we create a sensitive relationship with our environment and can truly activate our unique urban landscape.
